Why Does A Camera Need A Lens?

For those of you who may not have read my first post about this, please go back and read that one first – https://meghanalissasphotography05.photo.blog/?p=51

Hi all! I hope everyone’s week went well and have a great weekend!

Ps. I do occasionally add some things that I do not have on my essay for my teacher, such as in Chapter Four Summary that will be coming next Saturday, I say “Why you may ask? Well let me tell you!” Obviously, no teacher would accept that, although they might laugh before they crossed it out and took off points for it. (Trust me, I’ve tried lol)

Here is Chapter Four Summary!

Why Does A Camera Need A Lens

Well without a lens every single photograph would just be plain old white. No color, no outlines or shapes or form, nothing. Just like staring at a blank piece of computer paper when you are trying to figure out what to write for a creative writing project. A lens is kind of like the pupil in your eyeball. The bigger it is, the more light it lets in, and the brighter your photograph is. This is also known as higher exposure, because exposure is how much light is being exposed to your brain or photograph. However, the smaller your pupil is, the less light it lets in and therefore, the darker, or lower exposed, it is. Having the current amount of exposure is hugely important because otherwise, your photo would be way too dark, much too bright, or it would be extremely grainy. The shutter on your camera is what opens and closes a certain amount to let in the correct amount of light. A lens is also important cause it helps protect the inside of the camera from things like dust and dirt in the air. Even if you can’t see it with a naked eye, it WILL STILL LAND ON YOUR LENS AND THE INSIDE OF YOUR CAMERA! Every single lens is also built differently, so as long as you have the correct lens for your camera, or the right brand adapter, you can get pretty much any shot, whether it’s a close up macro shot of a grain of sand, a zoom shot from 500 feet away, portraits, landscapes, wide angles, and more! However, be extra careful if you are buying an adapter, and make sure it is from the same exact brand as your camera. Do not get a off brand, unless the reviews are really really really good for your exact brand of camera. It can absolutely ruin your camera if you get a wrong size, thread, etc.
